The Difference Between In-cell and On-cell

What is In-cell?

In-cell is composed of glass cover, front polarizer, touch layer+LCD, rear polarizer, and backlight. In-cell puts the ITO touch film under the upper glass substrate of the display panel, usually with the liquid crystal layer.
What is on-cell?
Ordinary LCD technology consists of protective glass, touch layer, air layer and display layer. On-Cell puts the ITO touch film on the upper glass substrate of the display panel, reducing the air layer and touch layer.
The Difference Between In-cell and On-cell1

1. Visual effects

Theoretically speaking, in-cell makes the screen less layers, and the screen picture is clearer than the on-cell screen.

2. Thickness

In-Cell is lighter and thinner than On-Cell.

3. Screen strength

On-Cell is more drop-resistant than In-Cell. In-Cell fuses the touch layer with the liquid crystal layer. If there is a problem with the touch screen, it must be replaced together with the display panel.

4. Production Difficulty

In the early days, in-cell was more difficult to control production than On-Cell. As the In-Cell manufacturing process matured, the production control technologies of In-Cell and On-Cell tended to be stable.

5. Touch Respond time

The In-Cell screen directly integrates the touch layer and the liquid crystal layer, it respond much faster than on-cell screens.

6. Yield rate

The yield rates of In-Cell and On-Cell screens are already at the same level, and large-scale production is not a problem.
